Nodusfall Cosmetics and Outfits
What the Gamescom booths let you change, and what HoYoverse has not yet said about the shop.
Cosmetics are the only paid layer HoYoverse has hinted at for Nodusfall. The slogan on every key art says it: Wield Divinity, Sever the Dreadnodus. The sentence under that slogan, repeated in the developer FAQ, says characters unlock without random draws. If the heroes are not for sale, the coats on their backs are. This page covers that cosmetic layer: what the Gamescom booths let you change, what HoYoverse has said about pricing, and where the studio has stayed silent.
Pair it with customization for the Style layer, Weavers for the heroes, and monetization for the full money picture.
What is confirmed at character select
The Gamescom booths, walked by PC Gamer, GameRant, Inven, and Famitsu, all showed the same surface. After you pick a Weaver from the four demo faces, character select already exposes outfits, hairstyles, and accessories. Hexsworn appeared in at least one wardrobe state different from her default combat coat, and the knight appeared with alternate hair and accessory swaps. That is the cosmetic layer that already exists in the demo build.
Three things are confirmed by the only public gameplay we have:
- Outfits are a visible, separate layer from the Weaver you chose.
- Hairstyles are independent of outfit selection.
- Accessories (head and shoulder pieces) can be mixed on top of an outfit.
What is not confirmed: a wardrobe UI naming convention, a dye palette, or a layering count. Previewers described what they saw, not what a settings panel will eventually call it.
What cosmetics probably include
Inferring from the booth toggles and the weapons previewers described, the likely cosmetic surface is:
- Outfits — full-body coats, often lore-coded by region or hunt.
- Hairstyles — short, long, tied, loose; sometimes bound to outfit selection.
- Color palettes — recolors of existing outfits.
- Weapon skins — coat-of-paint for greatsword, bow, and stave.
- Finishers and emotes — previewers noted a finishers toggle on the booth’s customization panel.
HoYoverse has not published whether cosmetics will be sold individually or in bundles. Official channels stay on links.
Pricing model
HoYoverse has published almost nothing about pricing. The relevant sentence is from the developer FAQ: cosmetics are an important avenue under consideration. That is intent, not a store. It does not name a currency, a price point, a season pass, or a rotation.
The pattern across HoYoverse’s other live-service games is to sell cosmetics for a premium currency earned in-game or bought with real money. Genesis Crystals in Genshin Impact and Stellar Jade in Honkai Star Rail are the most-cited examples; both games also offer monthly stipend passes.
None of that has been promised for Nodusfall. We note the pattern because it tells you what an experienced HoYoverse player should expect on day one, not because it is confirmed. A first pass could equally be a direct-purchase storefront, a monthly pass, a battle-pass, or an earn-only wardrobe with a smaller paid line. All four are consistent with the FAQ sentence.
How cosmetics interact with the game
The default assumption for any co-op hunt is that cosmetics are visual only. Nothing previewers said about Nodusfall contradicted that. Outfits, hairstyles, and accessories changed how a Weaver looked, not what they did. A dye system has not been published. The interaction with combat is narrow: cosmetics do not change stats, do not gate hunts, and do not unlock Styles. Styles and Divine Skills change how a Weaver fights; the cosmetic layer only changes how they look.
Customization at launch
The four demo Weavers — knight, archer, mage, and Hexsworn — all exposed the same customization surface at character select: body type, face, outfit, hair, and accessories. It is not a full character creator like a Souls game. It is a roster of designed heroes with a wardrobe layered on top.
The Style system
Styles are a separate system that lives next to cosmetics, not inside them. Official copy talks about switching Styles and skill mixes to match the hunt and the team. Inven saw that system in action: one bow player took a winged transformation that turned light attacks into skill-tier hits, while another took a Divine beast-mount with a longer ultimate cooldown.
Styles are combat choices, not visual choices. They do not change the coat on the Weaver’s back. They change what the Weaver can do and which buttons the cooldown timer governs. This separation is intentional and lets HoYoverse sell cosmetics without affecting balance. Customization covers the Style layer in detail.
Why no character gacha matters
The FAQ promise that no Weaver hides behind a random draw reshapes the cash shop. In a typical gacha-adjacent game, players spend on character banners, weapon banners, and pity systems. In Nodusfall, none of that exists for the roster.
That makes cosmetics the only published paid layer. Every paid decision is a visual decision. A player who never opens the cash shop plays the same hunts as a player who buys ten outfits. We keep codes empty on purpose and maintain a monetization page that watches the FAQ.
What to do before a beta
Pre-register on the official site: pre-register. Read getting started so the first contract is not your tutorial. Bookmark links so you read official channels first.
Do not buy anything yet. There is no shop, no premium currency, no founder pack, no season pass. Anyone DMing you a paid offer is not HoYoverse. When a beta names things in English, this page gets the tab names. Until then, the confirmed facts are: pick a Weaver, dress them, and the only published paid layer is the wardrobe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Nodusfall questions.
Are outfits paid-only in Nodusfall?
Unknown. Outfits, hairstyles, and accessories exist at character select; the developer FAQ calls cosmetics 'an important avenue under consideration' without naming a price. Some cosmetics may be earnable through play.
Will cosmetics be sold individually or in bundles?
HoYoverse has not published this. Treat both options as possible until an official store or FAQ clarifies.
Can cosmetics change my stats or abilities?
Nothing published suggests cosmetic-only items affect combat. Styles and Divine Skills change how you fight; cosmetics change how you look. Full separation on customization.
Does Nodusfall have a premium currency like Genesis Crystals?
Not confirmed. Other HoYoverse games use Genesis Crystals or Stellar Jade for premium cosmetics, but Nodusfall's currency system has not been published. The pattern is noted for context, not as a promise.
