Nodusfall World and Lore
A mythic continent after divine authority collapsed — what is actually published.
Nodusfall’s setting is the part of the Gamescom pitch that is easiest to over-write. Official English copy, the reveal trailer, and a handful of later press reports are not the same document. This page keeps them stacked instead of blended into one fan bible. Playable verbs live in combat and Dreadnodi. Identity of the people you play is on Weavers. Here is the continent those hunts sit on.
Official pitch
HoYoverse calls Nodusfall a multi-mythology cooperative action game. You are a Weaver on a mythic continent where divine authority has crumbled and order has collapsed. The Divine of creation forged Weavers to seek the source of calamity, then lost them into the mortal world before they were enlightened. You are one of those lost Weavers. The slogan on the key art is “Wield Divinity, Sever the Dreadnodus.”
Dreadnodi are the spreading corruption. They twist legendary creatures — Eastern-rooted beasts and Western dragons sharing one map — and leave the land in ruin. Reclaiming leftover divinity by hunting them is both the story excuse and the build loop. Regions have distinct ecology, culture, and history that unfold as you travel. The developer FAQ added that maps start from real-world research, then get remade as myth, which is why a canyon can feel researched and still not be a tourism brochure.
PC Gamer’s 29 August 2026 roundup lists the landscapes the trailer actually showed: golden hills, fiery skies, dreary moors, misty forests, dusty deserts, and gargantuan canyons. Those are camera shots, not a region list. Post-launch regions are promised in the same way Genshin players already understand: more maps later, no date.
Source Core and floating continents
TechNode’s 28 August report, based on Gamescom demo footage, is the first English piece to name a cosmological break. The story takes place across floating continents formed after the shattering of the Source Core. Scattered Elements transformed local ecosystems and granted powers to certain creatures and humans. Players explore ruins suspended above a sea of clouds and, in that article’s wording, uncover why the Source Core was destroyed.
That article also calls the player character a Linker. Official English, Geoff Keighley’s ONL introduction, and every other preview use Weaver. Treat Linker as a translation choice in one outlet, not a second class. Until HoYoverse prints Source Core on an English lore screen, it is a TechNode label for the shattering the trailer already implied: floodwaters, silken paths, ten suns, a silent Divine.
The demo used those ruins as combat spaces, not as a museum. Floating platforms and structures react to player actions and to the giant creatures’ attacks. Physics-based debris is part of the hunt, not a cutscene. If you only watch the cinematic half of the trailer, you miss that the world is a machine the squad climbs.
What the trailer actually says
The official upload mixes gameplay and in-engine cinematics in Unreal Engine 5, with a disclaimer that the build is not final. Narration asks whence the first entanglement came, then frames floodwaters, malice on silken paths, ten suns, and Weavers who “spoke not the cause of their coming.” Closing lines dare you: reweave this world, or seek some other end. That is tone, not a quest log. Do not cite it as a chapter title.
CEO Liu Wei, in translated post-Gamescom remarks collected by Wikipedia and TechTimes, called development “very un-miHoYo” — a large-scale realistic-fantasy multiplayer title after fifteen years of anime gacha. That is a production note, not lore, but it explains why the continent is oil-paint dusk instead of Teyvat neon.
How to use this on a hunt
You do not need the Source Core to clash a Drake. You do need to know that contracts send you through a region, not into an instanced parking lot. Inven’s booth had a ground trail toward the mark. Mounts appear on demand as Divine beasts. Smaller enemies and materials sit on the road. The solo and co-op page covers whether you walk that road alone.
When a later test names the continents in English, this page gets those nouns first, then wiki overview inherits them. Until then, keep official links closer than any map leak, and treat TechNode’s Source Core as a useful press name, not a loading-screen fact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Nodusfall questions.
What is the Source Core?
A cosmological break named in TechNode's Gamescom report: floating continents formed after it shattered. Official English still leads with a silent Divine and Dreadnodi, not that noun.
Are Weavers the same as Linkers?
Official English and ONL say Weaver. TechNode used Linker. This wiki follows Weaver.
Is there an open world?
Demo hunts used contracts plus a ride to the mark. Distinct regions are promised; a Genshin-style overworld has not been shown as the core loop.
