Weaver Roles

Nodusfall’s Gamescom demo did not hide the MMO triangle. You pick a Weaver who already is a tank, a ranged damage dealer, a mage, or a healer, then you take a contract. Styles and skill combinations will blur those lines later. For the kit we have, the seats are sharp. This page is the party planner. Individual kits live on Weavers and Hexsworn. The hunt itself lives on Dreadnodi.

Tank — greatsword knight

The male knight with the oversized blade is the clash seat. PC Gamer’s fondness for the counter is the job description: you charge a heavy, you eat the timing, you turn a boss swing into your turn. Inven saw a tank parrying a Fire Drake. If nobody in the lobby wants this job, the healer’s ring becomes a crutch and the hunt lengthens.

You still deal damage. Preview combat is built on basic attacks, not on a tank who only taunts. Stay in melee, hit Elemental Link nodes on the legs or chest, and save Divine Skill for a phase you cannot clash through.

Ranged DPS — bow ranger

Light shots fill a gauge; charged shots spend it. Inven’s bow kit allowed roughly four charged attacks at full gauge, plus a transformation ultimate that sprouted wings and turned normals into skill-tier hits, plus a Divine beast-mount that was hard to aim. That is a lot of identity for one seat. It is also the easiest damage job to learn because you are not in the splash zone.

Your failure mode is tunnel vision. Nodes on a flying dragon are not at your feet. Reposition. Join executions. Do not spend the winged ultimate on a dying add if the contract still has two bosses left — Famitsu chained three.

Mage / hexer — backline burst

Famitsu’s 魔法使い and 呪術師 notes, plus Beebom’s caster with a magical instrument, describe a second damage seat that is not the bow. Long-range tracking made it feel beginner-friendly in that Japanese session. Tornado-scale skills and lightning-charged attacks showed up in other round-ups. Until names ship, treat this as “the other DPS”: higher visual noise, still responsible for nodes and finishers.

If your group already has a bow, this is the seat that should bring a different damage pattern, not a second identical gauge. Diversify, then read combat for why mixed pressure opens weaknesses faster.

Healer — Hexsworn

Single-target beam, group AoE, frost chip, ring ultimate. The party lives if this person watches health pips on the left of the HUD. Solo players can skip the seat; four-player randoms should not. Full kit: Hexsworn.

How to fill a four-player contract

Default: one tank, one healer, two damage. That is not a holy trinity from a 2004 MMO design doc. It is what the demo’s cooldowns and clash windows implied. Two healers is luxury. Zero tanks on a dragon is a meme. Zero healers on a three-boss chain is a reset.

Solo: pick whichever kit you can execute. The FAQ says most core content is playable alone. You lose joint executions and role split, not the campaign.

Matchmaking is undescribed. If a test has roles queued like a hero shooter, queue the empty seat, not a fourth bow. If it is free-for-all, type your job before the mount.

Styles will complicate this

Official text promises Styles and skill combinations that craft “countless tactical approaches.” Ultimate choice in Inven’s demo already forked a subclass after character select. When that system is public, this page will add a matrix. Until then, do not invent off-spec tanks. Play the job on the character select, then use getting started so you still remember to pre-register.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Nodusfall questions.

Is there a dedicated support besides Hexsworn?

Not in the published Gamescom four. Future Weavers are unannounced.

Can one Weaver fill two roles?

Styles may allow it later. The demo kits were specialist.

What should a pug queue?

Tank or healer first. Damage seats fill themselves.

Do roles matter in solo?

Less. Pick a kit you can execute; the FAQ still wants you to finish core content alone.
